Jane Higginbottom is one of 16 talented locally-based artists exhibiting at London Bridge Hotel OPEN 3: Urban Nature, a public art exhibition which runs until the end of May 2020. This marks the third such exhibition in a series originally launched by London Bridge Hotel General Manager, Julio Marques in 2019, conceived in partnership with Team London Bridge and Southwark Council.  All artworks are available for purchase.

About the artist and the artworks:

I am a sculptor working in natural materials with a focus on plants and trees. I am interested in biodiversity and the natural plant world, especially what is growing locally. I have an MA from Camberwell/Chelsea and am a member of the Royal Society of Sculptors. In the summer of 2020, I will be a resident artist for one month at KulttuuriKaupplia, Northern Finland.

The painting ‘Plane Trees with Street Lamp’ is a view of Merrow Street, London SE17 and is an exploration of sculptural plane trees integrated with urban street furniture and a celebration of London street trees and sunsets.

The sculpture ‘Simply Walk Home’ is again exploring the London street trees but this time at roof top level and particularly looking at the spaces between the branches.
