Joanna McCormick is one of 16 talented locally-based artists exhibiting at London Bridge Hotel OPEN 3: Urban Nature, a public art exhibition which runs until the end of May 2020. This marks the third such exhibition in a series originally launched by London Bridge Hotel General Manager, Julio Marques in 2019, conceived in partnership with Team London Bridge and Southwark Council.  All artworks are available for purchase.

About the artist and the artwork:

Joanna McCormick works across different mediums. Her passion is painting. Given her first set of oil paints aged 12, she fell in love with the medium and its expressive force. Jo paints watercolour and oils that display vibrant colours, a broad range of painterly techniques and a political narrative. Joanna’s three dimensional works often accompany her live art interactions, “Cake Smash”, “SweeTalking” and “Kiss Me Quick”.

Jo’s sculpture “Peckham was my Destiny” reflects on the diverse environment of South East London, whose myriad of beautiful, tranquil green spaces include Peckham Rye, where William Blake saw his vision of angels. These priceless, sparkling green gems are oases of calm, tucked in amongst the gritty reality of London’s urban landscape.

Jo has exhibited widely and specialises in artists residencies, working with Westminster Arts, Wave Cafe, The Union Chapel and The National Trust. Jo teaches independent art classes and for Adult Learning Lewisham.
