Natalja Sigalova is one of 16 talented locally-based artists exhibiting at London Bridge Hotel OPEN 3: Urban Nature, a public art exhibition which runs until the end of May 2020. This marks the third such exhibition in a series originally launched by London Bridge Hotel General Manager, Julio Marques in 2019, conceived in partnership with Team London Bridge and Southwark Council.  All artworks are available for purchase.

About the artist and the artwork:

I moved to Shad Thames in June 2016 and belong to the group of lucky people who can walk into work.

The subject of this year’s exhibition “Urban Nature” prompted me to use my walk down Tooley Street in search of an inspiration. One morning whilst rushing into the office, I noticed something unusual – it wasn’t a part of a building or a new plants installation, it was a bright splash of blue on the pavement. After days of rain the beautiful autumn sky was smiling at me through a puddle surrounded by fallen leaves.

I took this shot in passing and realised later that changing the perspective by turning the image upside down made the scene look more intriguing – suddenly the attention was drawn to the pedestrians surrounded by “flying” leaves. I’m delighted to be part of OPEN 3 where this photograph can be shared with a wider audience.
